News
and information regarding negotiations between the University of
Minnesota and the University Education Association-Crookston
Information
Update - August 26, 2005
The
union negotiation team re-stated its belief that the current UEA
Duluth contract applies automatically to the Crookston faculty.
The union negotiation team stated that from this point forward
it is only willing to discuss those parts of the current Duluth
contract that both it and the management team agree require discussion,
and only for the purposes of adapting language or clarifying terminology
for the Crookston campus. In the union negotiation team’s
view, if the parties do not agree to discuss a particular provision
of the existing Duluth contract, that provision will automatically
apply to the Crookston faculty.
The
management team stated that the University believes that the needs
and interests of the Crookston campus and its faculty merit full
and complete consideration. The management team is committed to
continuing good faith negotiations with the UEA with the goal
of reaching an agreement that will address the terms and conditions
of employment for Crookston faculty.
It
was agreed that the next meeting will be on August 29th.
The
University of Minnesota , Crookston (UMC) is one of four campuses
in the University of Minnesota land grant system. UMC is
a coordinate campus that provides a unique approach through applied
and polytechnic baccalaureate education, research, and service.
