June 11, 2007
To: Crookston Faculty
From: UMC Management Negotiating Committee
Subject: Contract Proposal
We are pleased that after two days of negotiations, the University and the Union, with the help of a mediator, have developed a new proposal for your consideration.
We have listened and carefully considered the issues and concerns raised by faculty and have made the following enhancements to our previous proposal in response:
• An opportunity for additional release time from instruction to address elements of the UMC strategic positioning efforts.
• The creation of a labor management committee to develop recommendations to address merit salary criteria.
• The creation of a labor management committee to develop recommendations to address topics on distance education.
• And an additional lump sum of $400 to each faculty member.
We are hopeful this proposal will be acceptable to you, and that we can move forward together to address the important issues that will strategically position UMC for the future.
