News
and information regarding negotiations between the University of
Minnesota and the University Education Association-Crookston
Information
Update - August 12, 2005
Contract negotiations between the University of Minnesota and
the University Education Association continued on August 12. Each
team held individual caucus meetings in the morning and met jointly
at 11:00 am. Both sides submitted responses to proposals regarding
faculty fringe benefits, diversity and equal opportunity policy,
sexual harassment policy, nepotism policy, consensual relationship
policy, management rights, work rules and practices, and rights
of union association. There was a productive exchange of questions,
ideas and suggestions. In a few areas, we are nearing agreement
of final contact language. Initial proposals have also been submitted
regarding personnel files, University facilities and services,
confidentiality policy and teaching evaluation.
During the next week, each team will continue its work of evaluating
and reconsidering specific proposals submitted. The next scheduled
joint meeting of the negotiation teams will be the morning of
August 25. Joint negotiation meetings will continue on August
26, 29, 30 and 31. At this time, we continue to be optimistic
about the progress being made.
