MEMORANDUM
TO: Members of the University of Minnesota, Crookston Faculty
FROM: Chancellor Charles
H. Casey
RE: Status of the
Petition for Decertification and Contract Negotiations
As you are all aware,
in February of this year, UMC faculty members filed a Petition
with the Bureau of Mediation Services (“BMS”) to decertify
UEA as the Exclusive Representative of UMC Faculty. UEA objected
to the filing of the Petition, and the BMS requested additional
information from the Petitioners, the University, and UEA before
determining whether any decertification election would take place.
Today the BMS dismissed
the Petition for Decertification. Absent the filing of another
petition, no decertification election will be held.
As a result of the
dismissal of the Petition, the Maintenance of Status Quo Order
has been lifted. We will therefore resume contract negotiations.
We will continue to keep you apprised of any developments.
