Maintenance of Status Quo Order - February 14, 2006

Earlier today, the University of Minnesota became aware that the State of Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services had issued a Maintenance of Status Quo Order as a result of a petition requesting de-certification by faculty of UMC. The order requires that all existing conditions of employment remain unchanged as of February 8, 2006.

The petition requesting de-certification raises questions as to the majority status of the employee unit. The order shall remain in full force and effect until an investigation and/or hearing has been conducted and the matter is disposed of by a determination issued by the Commissioner of the Bureau of Mediation Services.

As a result of the Maintenance of Status Quo Order, negotiations between the University of Minnesota and the University of Education Association, Crookston scheduled for February 16th and 17th have been deferred.
